It is important to give treats in between meals as the smaller dogs often suffer from low blood sugar but don't let that freek you out into over giving the treats. tell yourself you will break two treats up and trick yourself and your dog into thinking you are handing out more than you really are. As for the cold weather, find a crocheter in the family to whip you up a easy sweater or get an old wool sock without its mate and cut it up for a quick cheap sweater until you can buy him something already made...don't forget his feet in the winter time, they get cold, dried out and the pads may dry out and crack due to the salt that is applied to sidewalks to keep them from getting slick.. good luck!
